Nestled in the heart of Malibu, Calamigos Ranch offers a truly unique wedding experience. For Becky and Jerry, who chose the enchanting Birchwood Room, the result was nothing short of magical.

The Birchwood Room at Calamigos Ranch is a favorite for its lush, secluded feel. Surrounded by towering trees and dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves, it creates an enchanting, forest-like ambiance. The natural surroundings made it perfect for Becky and Jerry’s theme of an “enchanted forest,” with colors that ranged from rich burgundy to earthy browns. The setting was elegant, moody, and timeless, adding an extra layer of romance to every moment.

We began the day with detail shots – from close-ups of the invitations to jewelry, bouquets, and their outfits, each element spoke to the couple’s thoughtful style. Becky and Jerry got ready in the spacious dressing rooms at the Birchwood Room, which provided plenty of natural light and rustic charm—an ideal backdrop for candid “getting ready” shots. Their first look took place right outside the dressing room, giving the scene a cozy, cabin-in-the-woods feel that added warmth to this intimate moment.

The ceremony unfolded under a canopy of trees, with sunlight streaming from behind, casting a gentle glow over the scene. As the couple exchanged vows, it felt as though nature itself was part of their celebration. In Becky's words later on, "the sun was a paid actor" – and indeed, it certainly felt like it! Their reception took place on a wooden deck centered around a magnificent tree adorned with fairytale string lights. The lights cascaded down, creating a dreamy, magical atmosphere that fit seamlessly with their enchanted forest theme.

Adding a personal touch, Becky and Jerry had a boba bar and a “smash station” (complete with Super Smash Bros) at their reception. These unique elements reflected their personalities and gave their guests a fun, memorable experience. For me, this wedding held extra significance, as I had been fortunate enough to capture other big moments in Becky’s life, from her graduation portraits to Jerry’s proposal, and even her sisters’ graduations. Being part of their journey from the start made capturing their wedding day even more meaningful.
