A calm, golden sunset engagement session at Ascot Hills Park.

Despite having been in Los Angeles for the past five years, I had yet to find the perfect overlook of downtown LA before this session. We shot previously at Griffith Observatory, which is always pretty, but also always crowded. If you’re ever looking to have a portrait session at Griffith Observatory (or any popular spot in LA), you might need to consider weekday early mornings.
This little gem of a park came recommended to me by my friend and fellow photographer Richard Luu, and wow was this an awesome location! We started from the park entrance and hiked all the way to the overlook up top. I feel like this sort of progression is usually best as we follow the edge of sunlight, which in my opinion produces the most stunning natural light.
I’m super excited to be there for Jeff and Emma’s wedding this weekend! Check out the rest of the portraits from the engagement session below 🙂
