Despite not being able to experience larger weddings this year, 2020 has still allowed for the more intimate events, such as this beautiful Malibu proposal and engagement session with Melissa & Christian.
The beaches of Malibu will forever be among my favorite locations in the world to shoot at with their idyllic scenes and comfortable sunny weather. They provide far more picturesque backdrops than your typical wide-open beaches, along with diversity in landscape.
While there are different types of proposals, this one was more of a surprise. Typically during surprise proposals, I am either tucked away behind cover sniping away, or hiding in plain sight pretending to be a random beach photographer. In either case, I'm happy to say that I've been pretty successful with keeping the whole experience a surprise.
Of course, what came afterwards was a beautifully classic Malibu photo session, the results of which you will see below.
A few tips I would leave for future proposers include:
- Make sure your partner is appropriately dressed and that they match with you - I am absolutely sure that they will appreciate it when they see the photos.
- Take your time and don't rush. Leave plenty of buffer time in your schedule to make sure everything proceeds smoothly. After all, you wouldn't want the day to end up being more stressful than it should be.
