Nestled within the various cliffs and coves of the Rancho Palos Verdes peninsula are many lesser-known, but beautifully scenic vista points. Although beaches in Malibu tend to be more prominent in the minds of Angelenos for romantic dates, family picnics, and proposal locations, there is a certain sense of accomplishment in finding hidden gems – especially if the hidden gems are much closer to Los Angeles than Malibu.
Terranea Cove Beach is one such hidden gem. This beach is located behind Terranea Resort, a five-star oceanside hotel and resort, one of the unique destinations in Rancho Palos Verdes. The beach occupies a relatively small area at the end of a trail, but it offers dramatic viewpoints of rock formations, cliffs, and ocean. You'll even be able to see Catalina Island over in the distance.
If you're coming from out of town for a photo shoot, you can consider staying at the Terranea Resort to make it a relaxing weekend getaway – nightly rates start at around $679. Daily parking is $25 or $10 with validation. There is also limited trail parking on the property, which is free.
