Napa wedding, flying veil at CIA Greystone, wine country

The veil caught the wind at the right second — full extension, arched out behind her, while everything else in the frame stayed still. Her train pools on the pavement, he's leaned in close with his head tilted toward her, and the stone tower behind them holds the whole thing together without needing to compete with it.

That building is CIA at Greystone in St. Helena — originally built in 1889 as Greystone Cellars, once the largest stone winery in the world, later home to the Christian Brothers Winery before it became a culinary school. It's still one of Napa Valley's most striking backdrops for a wedding.

Napa isn't an unfamiliar drive for Stanley. He grew up in the Bay Area and knows Napa Valley well — the light, the back roads, the venues — which is part of why he'll travel from Southern California for a wedding in Napa Valley like this one.

Location: St Helena, Napa, CA.
